SHERWIN BELKIN is a founding partner of  the firm.

Mr. Belkin has represented owners in numerous proceedings and hearings before the New York Conciliation and Appeals Board, Office of Rent Control, New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal, Attorney General's Real Estate Financing and Consumer Frauds Bureaus, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and New York City Commission on Human Rights. He has successfully challenged many of these administrative agencies in State Supreme Court and has argued appeals before all levels of State appellate courts. In addition, he has often served as an advocate for the real estate industry in its governmental relations.

Mr. Belkin has worked with numerous developers in assembling and then vacating sites for the construction of new buildings. This entails Mr. Belkin coordinating the firm's various departments so that New York's regulatory requirements can be addressed via litigation, administrative proceedings and negotiation.

Mr. Belkin is a member of the Landlord and Tenant Committee of the New York State Bar Association and its Special Task Force on Rent Administration and is a member of the Administrative Law Section of the American Bar Association. He also serves on the Real Estate Board's Housing Committee and Residential Law Subcommittee. Mr. Belkin has lectured at seminars sponsored by the Rent Stabilization Association, Associated Builders and Owners, Community Bankers Association, New York University's Master of Science and Real Estate Development and Investment program and the Association of Housing Court Judges.

He has co-authored A Complete Guide to Sublets and Assignments, authors the column "Real Estate Review" for Real Estate Weekly and has had many articles on real estate law published by the New York State Bar Association, the Real Estate Newsletter and the Landlord and Tenant Relations Newsletter. Mr. Belkin has been frequently quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, New York Magazine, Real Estate Weekly and Apartment Law Insider.
